The 2022 Apple Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) developer conference will be held soon and is expected to be held from June 7th to 11th, Beijing time.
According to foreign media reports, Apple will release a series of software strategic upgrades at this event, including iOS 16, Apple's next mobile operating system. However, the AR/MR headset, which the market has paid more attention to before, is not expected to be released.
Apple's software system will undergo a major upgrade
According to reports, the iOS 16 system will undergo an important upgrade, and its operating system will undergo major changes, including updates to notifications, messages and health applications, an upgraded lock screen function, and Apple will also add new iPad multitasking options.
Foreign media reported that the messaging app is expected to add new audio features. Meanwhile, the health app is expected to gain new features compatible with iPhones and Apple Watches.
Apple will also add widget-enabled wallpapers to the lock screens of the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro, and support an "always-on" lock screen, a feature Apple originally planned for last year's iPhone 13.
Foreign media reported that if the feature finally reaches the standard, the "always on" mode will be an exclusive feature of the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.
In terms of other products, Apple TV's operating system tvOS will have more smart home configurations, while Mac will add some redesigned applications and make necessary changes to system parameters to make them more in line with iOS settings. The look of the Apple Watch will change and a low-power mode will be added.
Apple typically announces new software at a launch event, then releases a beta version for users to try, and the final version will be released to all users in the fall.
AR headsets not expected to launch
In terms of new hardware, the market is also highly anticipating a headset announcement at Apple's WWDC22, although Apple is pushing full speed ahead with its AR/MR headset rollout, as highlighted by a recent demo at Apple's boardroom.
Affected by this news, on May 31, smart wearables, virtual reality, and Apple industry chain concept stocks led the rise in the two cities. Optical and other stocks rose by more than 8%.
However, later on Tuesday, well-known Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo tweeted that it will take some time before Appleās AR/MR headset enters mass production, and believes that Apple will not release the AR/MR headset and realityOS system at the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference.
A Bloomberg report is also cautious about the release of AR headsets next week, and predicts that the more likely hardware to be released is the next-generation MacBook Air equipped with the M2 chip.
